Compared to the previous edition, this newly released 7th edition of IEC 60335-2-14:2025 incorporates numerous key technical changes, including scope, testing requirements, and product classification. These changes will have a significant impact on the design, production, and compliance testing of kitchen machinery products.

The main technical additions and changes to the new standard are as follows:

    1. The standard has been revised to be used in conjunction with the 6th edition of IEC 60335-1:2020.

    2. The scope of the standard has been clarified to include products not suitable for children and battery-powered appliances not exceeding 250 VDC have been added.

    3. Added the use of TC 61 guidance document 61/6234/INF, providing guidance on power and normal temperature rise load, test time, and test cycle.

    4. Changed the product name "Berry-juice extractors" to "Auger juicers," and added a definition for the "Auger juicers" appliance type.

    5. Added instruction manual requirements:

◆ Products not suitable for children must include a warning indicating that they cannot be used by children.

◆ For appliances with rated capacity, the rated capacity must be stated in the instructions unless otherwise marked.

◆ For multi-function appliances, the nominal power rating may be based on the function or the most severe power rating.

    6. The standard clarifies that the categories of products not suitable for children do not require the use of test finger 18 for the assessment of live and moving parts.

    7. Except for the product categories specified in Section 7.12 as not suitable for children, the standard has added a re-examination of test finger 18 to the conditions for using test finger B.

    8. Added assessment of surface temperature rise in Table 101. 9. Added normal temperature rise test time requirements for products with programs, clocks, and remote controls, and added normal temperature rise test conditions for battery-powered appliances.

    10. Added normal temperature rise time and cycle requirements for products with chopping functions and lathe-type peelers.

    11. Added charging requirements for metal-ion batteries.

    12. Clarified that the overflow test for cordless blenders uses 1% NaCl and 0.6% rinse aid.

    13. Added overflow test requirements for products with removable gaskets.

    14. Added test time requirements for motor stall testing for remote controls and battery-powered products with manually held switches.

    15. Electronic interlock switches require additional component open/short circuit anomaly testing and electromagnetic compatibility testing. If controlled by a programmable chip, software evaluation is also required.

    16. Added requirements for bias switches for knives.

    17. Special requirements for food processor structures have been revised to apply to products with accessible moving parts. 18. Handheld products, products with accessible moving parts, and products requiring further user interaction are not eligible for remote control or delayed start.

    19. Remote Control Requirements:

◆ The product's off switch takes precedence over the remote switch.

◆ The operating time must be set before the product starts.

◆ After the product requires an operation to enter remote control mode, a visual indication must be displayed on the product when in remote control mode.

    20. Added the measurement method for feed opening dimensions in Figure 104.

    Friendly Tips

Currently, IEC 60335-2-14 has only been updated to the IEC version. Other countries, such as Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Korea, have not synchronized with IEC 60335-2-14: 2025. Therefore, products undergoing certification recertification must still be assessed according to the older 6th edition. If you are applying for a CB certification and are considering recertification later, both versions must be assessed. Our professional technical team and extensive product testing experience can help companies introduce their products into target markets with regulatory compliance.
