Entering summer, as temperatures rise and air humidity suddenly increases, the hot and humid environment becomes a major challenge for storing traditional Chinese medicine. Most Chinese medicinal herbs, herbal pieces, and root and stem medicinal herbs have fine pores and are highly prone to absorbing water vapor from the air, resulting in a phenomenon of moisture regain and moistening. At the same time, a warm and humid environment can activate hidden insect eggs remaining in medicinal herbs, rapidly hatch and breed pests, and also easily cause the growth of mold and bacteria, leading to mold, deterioration, insect infestation, and loss of medicinal efficacy.
Traditional drying is a "from the outside to the inside" heat conduction heating mode, where the surface quickly dries and forms a crust, making it difficult to remove internal moisture. This can lead to a situation where the outside is dry and the inside is wet, resulting in a rapid moisture absorption and recovery rate in summer.
Microwaves use the principle of body heating, and high-frequency electromagnetic fields can penetrate the entire medicinal material, causing water molecules inside the medicinal material to oscillate and produce heat synchronously at high frequencies, achieving synchronous heating and dehydration inside and outside without thermal conduction hysteresis. It can quickly remove free moisture on the surface of medicinal materials, as well as precipitate deep residual moisture inside the roots, particles, and decoction pieces. The drying is uniform without dead corners, and the problem of secondary moisture regain in hot and humid summer weather is minimized as much as possible. The moisture content is flexible and controllable, meeting the storage standards for traditional Chinese medicinal materials. At the same time, the equipment does not require preheating, can be turned on and used at any time, is not affected by rainy or hot weather, and can be continuously processed 24/7.

The core hidden danger of deterioration of medicinal materials in summer is mostly the invisible residual microorganisms such as insect eggs, fungal spores, and Escherichia coli. Traditional high-temperature drying can cause burns and damage to active ingredients due to excessively high temperatures; Chemical fumigation for insecticidal purposes can result in sulfur residues and contamination of medicinal materials, which does not meet drug testing standards.
Microwave technology, relying on both thermal and non thermal biological effects, can complete processing in low temperature and mild environments. On the one hand, it destroys the protein structure and nucleic acid system of insect eggs and fungi through the thermal movement of water molecules, rendering them inactive; On the other hand, high-frequency electromagnetic fields can interfere with microbial metabolism, block the hatching of insect eggs and the chain of bacterial reproduction, and achieve long-term antibacterial and insect control. The entire process is physically processed without adding any chemical agents, with no sulfur residue or pollutants, fully meeting the green processing standards for traditional Chinese medicine.
